In February 2020 POYWE was a partner in the organisation of the international conference “Exploring the digital dimension of youth workers’ competences” in Vienna. We discussed digital youth work and the knowledge, skills and competences youth workers need to provide the best possible offers to young people in any kind of digital dimension. This magazine was meant to show what happened at that conference, where we are with including digital issues in various competence models and highlight some initiatives in this area – and it sill is.

But when participants left Vienna on 27th of February the numbers of COVID19 infections skyrocketed in Europe and also the world of youth work changed dramatcially in the weeks to come. A fact we could not ignore.

Therefore we will present  to you the above mentioned conference and it´s outcomes but also the current reality of professional open youth work in Corona times in Croatia, the Netherlands and Norway.

We also look closer at some tools and concepts of digital youth work that are now even more relevant than before. And we listen to a young person and a youth worker from South Tyrol, who give us an insight in how they preceived youth work during lockdown weeks.

Reflections on online training for youth workers, the opportunities of Virtual Exchanges and some more action undertaken in our network to support youth workers these days, round up this issue.
